SubTerra Engineering  is a geotechnical consultancy offering a  range  of  services  related to the design, supervision and reporting of site investigations for the civil engineering and mining industries.

Specific services include;

Desk-studies and preliminary site assessments, including aerial photograph, and satellite image  interpretation to  identify engineering  issues and evaluate site selection or alignment options.

Probabilistic risk  analysis  to  quantify  the  technical and financial risks for different schemes.

Site investigation planning and design; contract procurement and administration; site supervision and management.

Borehole and trial pit layout, trial pitting with full reinstatement, in-situ testing for foundations and soakaways.

Assessment of shrinkage potential for settlement and heave, and effects of tree growth/removal.

Field sampling including contaminated soil and water.

Design, procurement, and management of In-situ and laboratory test programmes.

With our associated geophysical consultant we also offer integrated geophysical surveys for geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigations, including the location of contaminants, voids (including solution features and shafts/shallow mine  workings),  buried  objects, and service detection.

Geological  and  geotechnical  field mapping including rockmass classification.

Testing and  petrographic analysis  of rock samples to provide an accurate assessment of  abrasivity. This information can be used to predict the life expectancy of rock excavation tools such as TBM disks, Roadheader picks and drill bits.

Core logging, sampling and in-situ testing to BS 5930 or other appropriate standards.

Geomorphological mapping for identification of potential landslips, flood risk, and foundation problems.

Geotechnical database production in AGS or client-specified format.

Preparation  of  factual,  interpretative,  and  engineering reports.
